Landlocked Wooden Boat
Ty Fairchild grew up on a farm in southwest Kansas. Following high school he went to Pratt Community College and then onto Kansas State University where he graduated with a B.S. in Geology. After graduation he worked in the oil and gas industry for 15 years.
During one of the industry downturns in 2016, Ty went to Great Lakes Boat Building School in Cedarville, MI and graduated from the Traditional Boatbuilding program in 2017.
After returning to the geology field for a few more years, Landlocked Wooden Boat was founded in 2019. In August of 2021, Ty retired from the oilfield to focus entirely on building boats and being a full-time dad while his wife, Courtney finishes up nursing school.
